A patinar de nou! - Skating again!

Esta última semana ha hecho muy buen tiempo en Ginebra. Después de un duro invierno con temperaturas gélidas (-12º con sensación de -23º), nieve y mucho hielo, parece que la primavera está aquí!

Así que he empezado con mis rutas. En casi todo el invierno no he patinado, y tenia muchas ganas, así que me puse los patines a punto y he salido algunos dias ya, por fín!

Ayer mismo, que tenia el día libre en el trabajo, hizo un día genial con un sol increible, así que no me lo pensé dos veces, me preparé un pic-nic para comer, cogí la cámara de fotos, un libro, música y me calcé mis patines. Me di una vuelta genial por el lago, subí a las Naciones Unidas, y al bajar me quedé en el Parc de Mont-Repos dónde tomé el solecito, leí un poquito, saqué algunas fotos y comí tranquilamente en la hierba disfrutando de unas vistas maravillosas al Lago Léman y a la ciudad.

Que bien me lo pasé!!! Hoy, a parte de que tenia que trabajar de nuevo, ha llovido...así que nada...y ya no puedo aprovechar para ir patinando a casa, cómo hacia en Barcelona, ahora tengo el trabajo enfrente de casa ^^ pero bueno, en cuanto se pase esta lluvia... ;)

The good weather has come to Geneva during the last week. After a hard winter with really cold temperatures (-12º increasing the feeling to -23º), snow and lots of ice, it seems that springtime has come!

So I have started with the routes again. I could not skate during a long time and I really felt like, so I double-checked the skates and I, finally, started again.

Yesterday, I had a day off and the weather was amazing with the sun shining, so I did not think twice, I prepare a pic-nic for lunch, I took my camera, a book, the music and I put on my skates. I was skating close to the lake, I went to United Nations and then I stopped in the Parc Mont-Repos, where I sunburnt, I read a bit, I took some pictures and I ate quietly on the grass enjoying the nice views over the lake and the city.

I enjoyed a lot!!! Today, I have started working again and it has been raining...so no skating...and now I cannot come back home skating, as I used to do in Barcelona, now I'm working in front of my house ^^ but anyway when the rain will be over... ;)

Finalmente la semana pasada me llegaron mis patines! :)

Cuándo recibí las cajas con el resto de mis cosas no me lo podía creer, por fin! Lo primero que hice fue abrirlas y colocar todo en su sitio (soy muy ordenada!) y seguidamente revisé los patines, me los puse y me fui a la calle.

Buf!! Que gran sensación la de volver a "volar" con las ruedas en los pies! Dos meses después he vuelto a sentir esa sensación! Genial!! Tenia poco tiempo, sólo una hora, tenia que ir a trabajar, pero fue suficiente para quitarme las ganas.

Después he salido un par de veces más. Todavía no he hecho ninguna foto, pero no os preocupéis que dentro de poco haré una ruta algo más larga y me llevaré la cámara de fotos para que veais cómo es Genève.

También he descubierto que aquí en Ginebra hay un grupo de patinadores que se reúnen los lunes al atardecer para hacer rutas por la ciudad: www.nightskate.ch
Seguramente, y si el tiempo lo permite, éste próximo lunes me uniré a la ruta, tengo ganas de conocer más sitios y sobretodo hacer nuevos amigos con quién compartir afición! :)

Finally last week I received my skates! :)

When I got the boxes with my stuff I couldn't believe it! The first thing I did was open them and put everything into place (I'm very tidy) and then I checked my rollerblades, I put them on and I went to the street!

Wow!! What a nice feeling to "fly" again over the wheels! Two months later I have felt this great sensation again! Amazing!! But I had short time, only one hour before I got to work, but it was enough to enjoy.

From then on I have been skating two or three times more. I don't have pictures yet but don't worry in some days I'm gonna do a longer route and I will take my camera with me so I can show you Geneva.

I also have discovered that here in Geneva there are some skaters that use to meet on mondays evening to skate through the city: www.nighskate.ch
I will probably join them next monday, if the weather is good enough, I can't wait to know new places and to meet new friends to share experiences! :)

Un verano sin patines - A summer without skates :(

Hace ya dos meses que he cambiado mi vida en Barcelona por una nueva experiencia en Ginebra (Suiza).

Decidí dejar ahí todo y venir al país Helvético para ver si la crisis mundial también afecta aquí y entre todo lo que dejé en Barcelona se encuentran mis patines!! :(

No es que los dejara a propósito, al contrario, desde el primer momento que tenían un sitio preferente en mi equipaje, pero por causas de sobrepeso al final se tuvieron que quedar.

El hecho de llegar a un país nuevo con sólo un billete de avión de ida y una reserva para una semana en un albergue no pone las cosas demasiado fáciles. Tuve que buscarme la vida en cuestión de alojamiento y trabajo desde el primer momento y puedo decir, que por suerte, todo me ha salido genial. Peeeeeeerooooooo....SIGO SIN TENER MIS PATNES!!!! Están empaquetados en una caja de cartón esperando ser enviados a Ginebra. No he podido pedir que me los envien antes, ya que durante un mes y medio he estado trabajando en un pueblecito de los Alpes y no tenia mucho sentido que me los enviaran allí, pero ahora que ya estoy instalada en mi nueva ciudad sólo pienso en a ver cuándo llegan! No os podeis imaginar las ganas que tengo de calzarmelos y descubrir Ginebra sobre ruedas!!!

Around two months ago I decided to change my life so I quit Barcelona and I came to a new experience in Geneva (Switzerland).

I left my whole life there and I came to the Helvetic country to see how the crisis affects here. And with the stuff that I had to leave behind, there were my lovely Seba FR1.

I promise that I didn't want to leave them, they had a preferential place inside my baggage but because of the excess weight they finally had to stay.

It's not easy to arrive to a new country with just a one-way flight ticket and a booking for a week in a hostel, so I had to start looking for a flat and a job from the very beginning and now I can say that things went through pretty well. Buuuuuut....I HAVEN'T MY SKATES YET!!

They are packed in a box, waiting to be sent to Geneva. I couldn't ask to send them before because during a month and a half I have been working in a village located in the Alps but now I already moved in my new city and I only can think about them!! I just miss them a lot!

I wish they arrive here soon so I can start discovering Geneva on wheels!!

2 horas sobre ruedas - 2 hours over the wheels

Hoy ha hecho un día de verano en Barcelona y ya desde bien pronto que estaba pensando en que esta tarde iba a salir a patinar. De hecho ya llevaba unos días planeando la ruta, ya que últimamente me he centrado más en los entrenos de running (este domingo hay la Cursa de Bombers en Barcelona y tenia que ponerme las pilas!! :) ) y cómo mis piernas necesitaban relajarse de tanto impacto y no me puedo estar quieta ni un segundo, hoy me he puesto mis queridos Seba FR1 y me he dado una vuelta de dos horas! El tiempo me ha acompañado ya que no hacia un calor excesivo y corría un airecito que invitaba a estar en la calle con los patines puestos!!!

He salido de el Clot y he cogido la Meridiana dirección Glories. Allí he bajado por Diagonal hasta el C.C. Diagonal Mar y me he ido hasta el Passeig Garcia Faria. Me he dado un paseo por todo el Forum y luego he vuelto por todo el paseo. He continuado por el Passeig Marítim hasta el Hotel W Barcelona. (El mar estaba espectacular!!) Luego he dado la vuelta y me he ido por el Passeig de la Barceloneta dónde me he sentado un ratito a descansar y a mirar el atardecer junto al Port Vell. Me he ido hasta Colom por Passeig Colom i allí he dado la vuelta, he vuelto por dónde he venido y a la altura del Port Olímpic he cogido la Calle Wellington hasta la Meridiana y vuelta a casa!!

Que gran tarde!!! He ido sola pero os aseguro que me lo he pasado genial!! Que más se puede decir?? I Love Skating!! :)

Today it has been a summer day in Barcelona. During all the day I only had one thing in my mind: skate!!! Well, I have been planning this afternoon over wheels from some days ago because on the last weeks I have spent most of the time running (next sunday I will run the "Cursa de Bombers" and I had to prepare it!! :) ) and my legs needed to relax, but as I can't be quiet, I have put on my dear Seba FR1 and I have been rollerblading for two hours. The weather has been perfect, not so hot and with a soft wind that makes you feel comfortable!!

I have started the route in el Clot and I have gone through la Meridiana until Glories. Once there, I have taken Diagonal until I reached Diagonal Mar shopping center. I have gone to El Forum and I have been skating there. Later on I have gone through Passeig Garcia Faria, Passeig Maritim, Hotel W Barcelona and Passeig de la Barceloneta. I have stopped there to enjoy the sunset in the Port Vell. After I have gone until Columbus Monument and then I have come back and when I was in the Olimpic Port, I have taken Wellington Street, Meridiana until I have arrived home!!

What a nice afternoon!!! I have been alone but I promise that I enjoyed a lot!!! What else can I say?? I Love Skating!! :)

Volviendo a los viejos hábitos - Back to the old habits

Hace unos días que he retomado el hábito de volver a casa, después del trabajo, patinando. Hacia mucho tiempo que había dejado de hacerlo y me doy cuenta que me hace sentir genial. Después de estar 8 horas de pie detrás del mostrador de recepción, el hecho de patinar y sentir esa sensación que sólo sientes encima de las ocho ruedas, hace que me oxigene tanto de cuerpo cómo de mente. Además, si he tenido un día duro y he terminado cansada y de mal humor, parece que ese sentimiento se quede atrás con la velocidad y llegue a casa más tranquila y de mejor humor.

Otra de las cosas que he estado haciendo estos días es enseñar a un amigo. Hemos quedado un par de veces y, aunque la primera vez fue un poco desastre por los patines malos del decathlon que tenia, esta vez que ya ha adquirido algo más decente, ha sido muy gratificante ver, cómo practica todo lo que le enseño, el esmero que le pone y ver cómo le van saliendo las cosas. Yo creo que en un par de clases más ya me lo podré llevar a las rutas fáciles de los sábados por la tarde!! :)

Some days ago I decided that I would return to that old habit that I used to do: come back home, after work, skating. It was long ago since I did it and I realize that it makes me feel really good. After 8 hours standing behind the front desk, the simple fact of rollerblading fills my body and my head of fresh air, and if i have had a hard day at work, this bad feeling goes away with the speed and I get home more quiet and in a better mood.

Another thing that I have done is to teach a friend. We have met a few times and even the first day was a bit disaster because of the skates (he had a bad pair of skates purchased on decathlon), this time (he's already got better skates) I have had the satisfaction of see how he gets all the things that I show him. I firmly believe that in a few more days he will be able to go to the easy routes on saturdays afternoon!! :)

Hoy és el dia de Reyes, cómo cada año en todas las casas se escucharán un montón de Oh's y Ah's porque esta noche mágica habrá dejado un montón de sorpresas. Han venido los reyes! Pero ¿cuantos de vosotros habeis recibido patines o algo relacionado con el mundo del patinaje?

Good Morning!

Today is the King's day (an Spanish Tradition), as every year in all the houses there will be lots of Oh's and Ah's because this magic night has brought lots of surprises. The Three Kings had come!! But, how many of you have received a pair of skates or something related about the skating world?
